Five European makers of PABXs, GEC Plessey Telecommunications, Alcatel Business Systems Group, Ciemens AG, Telenorma GmbH and Societe Anonyme de Telecommunications, came together in Brussels this week to reveal plans to make their PABXs compatible. They call themselves the ISDN PABX Networking Specifications Forum, and is inviting others to join. The aim is to enable users on any of the PABXs to call anyone on a private digital network by simply dialling the extension, regardless of the destination PABX, and was born out of the Acatel-Siemens signalling initiative (CI No 1,312).
