First Hosted unveils hosted VoIP offering

VoiceNet records, stores and retrieves any call

By CBR Staff Writer

First Hosted has launched a business-grade VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) technology for organisations of all sizes, which it claims to offer the benefits of economies of scale, cost efficiencies and centralisation.

According to First Hosted, Hosted VoIP is just like a PBX (Private Branch Exchange) service but facilitates call switching and allied functions from dedicated servers, thus avoiding the need for a expensive PBX hardware.

The company said VoiceNet provides a Cisco IP phone and a soft phone for the desktop. Alternatively, it also enables mobile phones to be used on the business network, which includes an extension number.

VoiceNet provides security to every call as all calls go through a high-level security data centre. In addition, a Session Border Controller (SBC) is provided to ensure every call is delivered securely. Call recording service of the company offers businesses the ability to store data efficiently and securely, apart from providing the recording feature, the First Hosted said.

Other features include always-on recording of specific phone extensions, immediate online search and replay for supervisors, ‘Live Acquire’ facility to monitor active conversations as they are recorded, apart from the ability to save calls as WAV files that can be sent as e-mail attachments, the company added.

Andrew Peddie, managing director of First Hosted, said: Our VoIP solution provides incredible flexibility and takes off communication to a new level while offering significant savings. VoiceNet eliminates the need for fixed installations and allows users to adapt their business operations as they grow. They can set up and move lines, and retain existing phone numbers even if the business moves out of the area.”
