Hewlett-Packard Co is rather proud of its first monochrome display monitor to offer black characters on a page-white screen. The HP D1192A monitor is fully compatible with the IBM Corp Video Graphics Array standard and all HP Vectra personal computers. It is designed for use with file servers, personal computers whose primary function is word processing, and other applications for which colour monitors are unnecessary or uneconomical. It can display up to 64 shades of gray in VGA mode and supports resolutions of 320 by 200, 650 by 350 and 620 by 480 pixels. It has a 14 screen and a built-in tilt-and-swivel base. The new monitor, which will be sold both direct and through dealers, costs $300.
