US based Chubb Insurance has started a new insurance scheme to help Britons deal with cyber bullying by providing personal insurance for up to £50,000.
The first of its kind policy is expected to cover the cost of professional help, time off from work which includes leave for a week or more, job loss and even relocation for those who are harassed by the cyber-bullies.
The scheme is reportedly designed for wealthy policy holders and is targeted towards worried parents and adults who had to go through harassment online.
Chubb Insurance will also help victims to hire a reputation management team to clean up the mess, and will pay for a digital forensic specialist to trace the abuse.
The Telegraph cited UK and Ireland private clients manager Tara Parchment as saying: "We see insurance as helping our clients get back to how they were before the incident occurred – whether it’s an incident that affects their home or as a person," said theUK and Ireland private clients manager.
"So we still help to restore homes, cars and belongings that have suffered physical harm or damage, but increasingly it’s about the person and how they cope."
Online troll and cyber bullying has been a serious issue and most of the social media sited including Facebook, Twitter and Reddit have introduced features to help victims report the incident to the company or block the person who is bullying.
