North White Plains, New York-based Fingermatrix Inc has convinced NEC Corp that the Japanese company does not have all it needs for the fingerprint storage and identification market, and has won a broad marketing and service agreement with NEC Technologies Inc, which builds an Automated Fingerprint Identification System database: Fingermatrix makes live scan point-of-booking systems, which instantly scan a finger, print its image on an FBI-type 10-print card and simultaneously digitises and processes it for electronic transmission to a NEC system where it is used to match both prints already on file and subsequent unknown prints; NEC will market worldwide an entire electronic fingerprinting system.
