FileNet Corp, still reeling from accusations of insider trading (CI No 3,069) and falling profits last quarter, is trying to extend its reach within the workflow, document imaging and management marketplace by engaging the help of various software developers, through licensing its applications. FileNet’s Complementary Service Provider program has been established to encourage independent software vendors, applications development consultants and business application developers to integrate FileNet software with their own offerings, and develop products complementary to its own, and in return will offer them marketing support and access to its channels. Members so far include electronic forms software company JetForm Corp; business modeling tool firms Holosofx Inc and Meta Software Corp; Scan-Optics Inc, a vendor of scanning systems; forms processing and indexing software firm TextWare Corp, and WideOcean Ltd which already supplies software for integrating FileNet’s Watermark software into line-of-business applications. FileNet has also announced RAD Controls, a set of rapid application development tools for its Visual Workflo software suite. The tools, based on ActiveX, will enable developers system integrators and end users to make industry-specific workflow-based applications. There are no details on price or availability.
