Joining the chorus of woe from US computer companies over the likely outturn for the quarter to June 30, Costa Mesa, California-based FileNet Corp says it expects earnings for the quarter of about $600,000 or $0.05 per share, down from $2.2m or $0.20 per share a year earlier, on turnover of about $34.5m, up from $28.8m a year ago; Lower than planned revenue did not offset the increased expenses resulting from our planned build-up in both our domestic and international sales organisations and product development activities, the optical document storage systems builder said; it says financial and economic concerns continue to hamper revenue growth in the US, contributing to project delays at about 15% of its prospects for the quarter, and that competition was not a big factor; international revenues were up 65% from a year ago as a result of very strong performance by its German operations, but a weak market in France and lower than expected distributor sales resulted in overall international results falling below expectations, it added.
