Document imaging and workflow systems specialist FileNet Corp of Costa Mesa, California has definitive agreement to acquire Watermark Software Inc, Burlington, Massachusetts developer of document imaging software for workgroup and departmental applications, paying 1.42m new shares, worth some $61m. It will take a $5m charge this quarter. Watermark claims to have been the first company to ship document imaging software for Windows NT and claims the largest installed base of imaging users for NT, while FileNet supports Unix, Windows, NT, OS/2, and NetWare – the Windows NT Server version of its WorkFlo Business System software goes out this month. Watermark writes for Windows95 and NT with features to exploit Object Linking & Embedding automation.
