The FI Group Plc seems intent on pursuing its policy of diversification, an opinion reinforced by the recent acquisition of Phoenix Technical Publications Ltd. Phoenix produces technical documentation and translations for major organisations, particularly within the computer industry. Originally set up in 1985, it fell into receivership in August this year. Now however, FI has taken on the exclusive rights to Phoenix’s assets and goodwill, with the aim of expanding its portfolio of services. Financial terms were not disclosed. Derek Toon, a founder director of Phoenix, has joined FI as divisional director for the Birmingham-based company’s new international documentation division. From his point of view, FI will provide his company with a valuable base and infrastructure, while FI is happy to see its range of services continue to grow.
