Farnell Electronics Plc is getting increasingly anxious that it is going to fail in its bid to get shareholder backing for its agreed bid for Premier Industrial Corp. It wrote to its shareholders over the weekend and beseeched them to vote in favour of the proposed #1,800m transatlantic alliance at the extraordinary general meeting to be held on Thursday. Those voting by proxy have a deadline of 11.00am today to get their ballot forms in. Farnell needs 75% of all its shareholders to back the proposal, so those that don’t bother to vote are in effect voting against.
