Fairchild Semiconductor is putting its showpiece Nagasaki, Japan, and its Wasserburg, West Germany wafer fabrication chip plants on the market. The company is itself in process of arranging a management buy-out from Schlumberger Ltd. Chip plants are a glut on the market.
