Facebook has said it has added HTTPS protocol as a security option to secure communication between users and the server.
It is a protocol that is used for payment and sensitive transactions online.
Currently, Facebook is offering the security setting as an opt-in. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s profile page was hacked recently.
To access Facebook entirely over HTTPS connection, users need to enable the option in Account Security located in their Facebook Account Settings.
In the official blog, the site also announced the Social Authentication feature in which the site asks users to identify his/her Facebook friends from the photos.
The site that users are asked to undergo authentication of their account has been accessed from a location different from the one users usually use.
Recently, Google also added the protocol for its Gmail users.
