Last month, social networking site Facebook saw a decline in its user base in countries like the UK, the US, Norway, Russia and Canada.

The service which is nearing 700 million users worldwide, witnessed declining user numbers in markets like the US and the UK for the second month in a row.

According to Faceboook monitoring site Inside Facebook data, the company’s entire user base reached 687 million at the start of June.

Almost six million users in the US left Facebook in May this year, while in the UK the figures were over 100,000.

Last month, Canada saw a decline of 1.52 million users as well.

The number of new users also slowed down with the service adding 11.8 million new users in May, compared to 13.9 million users in April.

However, the user base of Facebook in developing countries like India, Indonesia, Brazil and Mexico grew sharply last month.
