Social networking giant Facebook is reportedly testing a new feature that allows companies to list their job openings.

The feature enables recruiters to receive profile of the candidates interested in the jobs listed.

The new feature from Facebook is expected to pose a challenge to the recruitment business of professional networking site LinkedIn, Reuters reported.

Facebook’s spokesperson was quoted by the publication as saying: “Based on behaviour we’ve seen on Facebook, where many small businesses post about their job openings on their Page, we’re running a test for Page admins to create job postings and receive applications from candidates.”

Monthly fees paid by job hunters and recruiters account for a significant part of revenue earned by LinkedIn.

A report by TechCrunch said that Facebook might put pressure on LinkedIn’s recruiting business by allowing job listings on business Pages.linkedin

The features could offer another opportunity for companies to improve traffic for their Facebook Page, besides marketing their products in the News feed.

The networking platform was looking to include the new features when it conducted trials of Profile Tags last year.

With a new option in the status update composer, Facebook allows Pages to share job opening along with its particulars like title, salary or whether it is full-time or part time.

The company could roll out special formatting features for job listings to get identified in the News Feed.

The features will also include an “Apply Now” button to enable users to apply for a specific opening with their public profile.

It could assist in applying for multiple positions without entering “redundant” data.
