Express Computer Group Ltd of Hove, Sussex has an new executive information system with an integrated database developed by Information Resources Inc of Chicago: it’s called Homer-eis and the core of the system is a piece of decision support software, pcExpress, which provides a relational database, a fourth generation language, communications, graphics, reporting, modelling and forecasting techniques; all objects are maintained via tables in the database and data acquisition or validation tools provide links to external systems like SQL and Lotus 1-2-3; it works on personal computers either connected to a shared database on a local area network server, or using data downloaded from a mainframe, server or other source; also, it can act as a front-end to remote databases and SQL-based systems.
