The component maker CML Microsystems Plc of Witham, Essex appears to be doing well, reporting pre-tax profits up 32% at UKP3.3m on turnover up 29% at UKP11.4m. Semiconductor sales were up, performing particularly well in the cellular radio mobile telephone sector, while the company’s development in this product area focussed on silicon and modular products for the personal communications, military and telecommunications markets. Traffic and parking product sales were also good, reflecting the results of the development programme that produced the Infra-red Traffic Detector line. These products have now passed US Department of Transport approved tests and are in sale in the UK and the US. With these successes under its belt, CML is going ahead with expansion of facilities for Microsense Ltd at Fareham, Hampshire, and reports the completion of the enlarged plant for MX-COM Inc.
