EXODUS CHOOSES SUN HIGH AVAILABILITY WEB SERVICES

Exodus Communications Inc, the internet hosting and management services company from Santa Clara, California, has chosen Sun Microsystems Inc network storage management technology and services as the basis for new assured data availability services it plans to offer its customers. The services will cover mission- critical web operations on multiple platforms, including Windows NT and Unix. Exodus plans to offer its customers assured data availability and higher service level agreements, and will use Sun’s StorEdge A1000 array, L3500 tape library and NetBackup software, along with a Sun E4500 server running Solaris. Exodus will work with Sun’s Professional Services division to implement and operate the backup and restore systems in its six internet data centers in the US.
