Many outsourcers, both Indian players and larger global firms such as IBM, Accenture, HP, ACS, and LogicaCMG have either established sizeable Philippines operations or are ramping up their operations in the Philippines. These firms serve the local market and export a range of services to their clients in the region and also the US, since Philippines is an attractive outsourcing destination for US companies due to its English language skills.
Besides a heavy amount of call center work–the Contact Center Association of the Philippines states that the industry employs about 180,000 workers domestically-there’s also a growing amount of HR and F&A work being done from the Philippines. The country follows US accounting rules, an asset for US firms looking to the Philippines.
EXL is investing $12m in its new center, and it will have five years of tax exemption in the country.
