Exfo launches ETS-1000 Ethernet Analyzer

Also introduces a handheld ethernet loopback device for full wire-speed testing

By CBR Staff Writer

Exfo Electro-Optical Engineering has launched ETS-1000 Ethernet Analyzer, which according to the company allows easy and reliable turn-up and installation of carrier-grade ethernet services over metro networks. Its feature set delivers functionality required by field technicians to meet ethernet network testing and compliance measurements.

The company said that the new offering features 10M to 1GigE test units, supporting two independent test ports. Technicians can transmit up to layer-4 traffic, with fully configurable virtual local area networks (VLAN), multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) and quality of service (QoS) parameters. The ETS-1000 also supports ethernet/IP field testing capabilities including RFC 2544, bit-error rate, packet jitter and multistream generation and analysis.

The company has also introduced the ETS-1000L, a handheld ethernet loopback device that supports simple user configuration for full wire-speed testing, from Layer 1 through 4. Both the ETS-1000 and ETS-1000L are fully interoperable with all Exfo ethernet products.

Etienne Gagnon, vice president of product development and marketing at Exfo, said: Proper assessment of carrier-grade ethernet services is essential to ensure both quality and performance. The addition of the ETS-1000 further enhances our leading ethernet portfolio, which provides our customers a broad range of tools to address and maximise the efficiency of their installation and turn-up testing processes.
