The contract, valued at more than GBP10 million over the contract period, is the first time Exel has worked with Intermarche and highlights the logistics company’s continued expansion into the European retail market.

Intermarche commented; Intermarche is pleased to be able to announce this new partnership with Exel. We have seen the work Exel has carried out on behalf of other food retailers around Europe and are confident that Exel will be able to provide an excellent service for us in Villefranche.

Exel will manage the 16,000 sq. m. distribution center and distribute goods to local supermarkets within the Intermarche chain. The site is already being developed and will be fully operational by April 2001. Offering a comprehensive service of pick and pack, warehousing and distribution, Exel will handle over 3,500 product lines and 16,000,000 parcels in this operation.
