EXCALIBUR TECHNOLOGIES’ NEW RELEASE OF EXCALIBUR EFS SUPPORTS WINDOWS, MACINTOSH CLIENTS

By CBR Staff Writer

Excalibur Technologies Corp has announced Excalibur EFS 3.5, a new release of its document management and retrieval software. The new version adds the ability to support Windows workstations as Excalibur EFS Input Stations for scanning, Optical Character Recognition, validation and data entry. There’s also a new application programming interface, providing developers with C-callable access to Excalibur EFS 3.5 client functionality on Macintosh and Windows client computers. The San Diego firm says the Excalibur EFS Client programming interface gives third-party programs access to the same functions that could be executed by an end user within Excalibur EFS 3.5. As well as the existing support for Sun Microsystems Inc Sparcstations, IBM Corp RS/6000, Hewlett-Packard Co HP 9000, and Digital Equipment Corp Unix environments, Excalibur EFS 3.5 supports several new systems including DEC’s OpenVMS for VAX and AXP. Excalibur EFS 3.5 will be available during the third quarter with a single-user Unix licence costing $12,000, rising to $81,000 for a 20-user licence. The Excalibur EFS Input Station option will be available this summer, costing $8,000.
