Boulder, Colorado-based Exabyte Corp has won a three-year renewal and expansion of its agreement with Kubota Corp and Nippon Systemhouse Co Ltd: the agreement now runs to December 31, 1994; originallty signed in July 1987, the agreement covered manufacturing and marketing of Exabyte’s first product, the EXB-8200 8mm Cartridge Tape Subsystem and the new agreement adds the higher-performance EXB-8500 Cartridge Tape Subsystem; the Japanese team will continue to act as a second-source of the 8mm subsystems and will manufacture the EXB-8200 and EXB-8500 exclusively for Exabyte for marketing in the US, Canada, Europe and the Far East, getting an exclusive licence to manufacture and market the subsystems in Japan under a royalty agreement.
