NSE Inc has been formed in Atlanta to seek investment opportunities in privately-held US software companies that have the potential for growth in international markets. Founder and president of the company is Dan Jenkins, the former president and chief executive of Softlab Inc, Atlanta-based subsidiary of Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, BMW. Its strategy will be to take minority equity positions in US software companies with $5m to $20m in annual revenue and an established customer base. In addition to a financial stake, NSE will act as a partner for growth by providing the companies with established sales and marketing channels in Europe and the Asia Pacific region. Jenkins perceives that many software companies have come safely through the initial start-up challenges, but can’t remove the obstacles that block their move to the next growth period, and his aim is to plug the gap.
