EX-IBM MARKETING REPRESENTATIVE ACCUSES THE COMPANY OF UNLAWFUL EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES

By CBR Staff Writer

An ex-IBM marketing representative wants a cool $25m from the company in a lawsuit filed in New York in which he accuses his former employer of unlawful employment practices: Victor Khabo, a naturalised black US citizen born in Pretoria, says that IBM passed him over for pro-motion and broke its promise to provide funding for the completion of his doctorate, when he refused a transfer to South Africa, where he fears that he faces charges for anti-apartheid activities; IBM has refused to comment on the lawsuit, which names four of Khabo’s former managers, together with IBM chairman John Akers – he’ll like that – as co defendants, but insists Khabo’s eventual dismissal from IBM was not related to South Africa.
