CDPD is a current-generation radio technology that supports the transmission of packet data at speeds of up to 19.2 Kbps over the analog Advanced Mobile Phone Service (AMPS) cellular network. Lucent’s Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) product, which Evolving Systems developed for Lucent in 1992, is one of the world’s largest deployed wireless Internet data network and is used by many of the world’s major wireless carriers.
This contract recognizes Evolving Systems’ expertise in building and maintaining high-volume public data network software, said Jim Ross, president and chief operating officer of Evolving Systems in a statement to the press. Lucent’s customers can be assured that we will continue to provide a high level of service to help Lucent deliver the mobile Internet features their customers demand.
