Everex Systems Inc has two computer systems based on the Intel 80486SX chip: the Everex Step 486SX/20 and the Everex Tempo 486SX/20 are both shipping now – the Step 486SX/20 uses Everex’s proprietary Advanced Memory Management Architecture cache which is scalable to 256Kb and achieves a quick 13 MIPS and supports memory configurations of up to 64Mb for memory intensive applications: the Step 486SX/20 comes in three chassis configurations with 1Mb of RAM as standard – retail pricing is $4,000 in a smalldesktop chassis, $4,100 in a large desktop chassis and $4,600 in a tower chassis; the Tempo 486SX/20, with 1Mb of RAM standard is $3,000 and is comes only in a small desktop chassis; they use Windows 3.0.
