EuroTel sees subscription numbers pass a million in Q1

EuroTel, the Slovakian GSM network, has passed the one million customer mark. At the end of Q1, the operator has 1,018,733 customers: 81.7% higher than in March 2001. The company added 76,118 customers in Q1 2002, a 12.8% increase in net customer additions from Q1 2001.

The company reports that Q1 earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization were $12.72 million, a fall of 15.1% compared to the same period last year.

EuroTel was the first operator in Slovakia to launch a HSCSD high-speed data service in January. The following month saw the company’s prepay service re-launched with the new brand name Viac. February also witnessed the launch of per-second billing for its PostPaid customers.
