Eurotech, a supplier of embedded technologies, products and systems, has launched Catalyst LP, a low-power embedded system based on Intel’s Atom processors N450, D410 and D510.

The company claims the new system to offer high-performance graphics for applications requiring high-end 2-D and 3-D visualisation with high-resolution graphics capabilities, including digital signage.

In addition, high bandwidth I/O capability including PCIe, and data storage interfaces like SATA make the system suitable for applications requiring data retrieval and processing such as those in the industrial, medical, gaming, human-machine interface and other markets.

According to Eurotech, Catalyst LP has a 67x100mm form factor and allows existing catalyst module customers to migrate to the new Intel Atom processors N450, D410, or D510. It also offers I/O capabilities with the Intel 82801HM I/O Controller.

The company said that the new offering includes features such as low-power design with microcontroller-based power management system; scalablility to leverage Intel atom processor performance capabilities in I/O and 2-D and 3-D graphics; flexibility in allowing migration to Intel Hyper-Threading Technology and multicore technology.

Other features include operating system support for windows CE, windows embedded standard and wind river Linux 3.0; and application development with Eurotech’s optional everyware software framework based on the java virtual machine.

Hilary Tomasson, vice president of marketing for Eurotech, said: Eurotech offers a seamless migration pattern for customers ready to take advantage of the new Intel Atom processors immediately in our Catalyst form factor. The Catalyst LP system from Eurotech offers OEMs easy application development options in both single core and dual core configurations.
