European Union finance ministers meet in Athens today to discuss how to finance trans-European information superhighways in the hope that they will foster growth and job creation – but don’t look for anything dramatic to come of it: the networks – road, rail and energy networks are also on the agenda – were about the only concrete proposals in the European Commission’s White Paper on jobs and growth that was agreed at last December’s summit don’t expect anything to be decided – this is an informal meeting and [Commissioners Martin] Bangemann and [Henning] Christophersen will only give progress reports, one Commission source told Reuters.
