Central London-based European Data Group has a new multiplexer that it says will enable reductions of up to 50% on telephone line costs by integrating voice and data over a single line: the company says the SDM-1 Speech Data Multiplexer delivers voice quality at low bit rates at a price of UKP2,300 per unit, with voice compression digitising speech at 8.4Kbps, 9.6Kbps and 12Kbps.
