EUROPE IMPOSES UP TO 33% DUTY ON JAPANESE PRINTERS

The European Commission yesterday announced anti-dumping duties of up to 33.4% on printers imported by 14 Japanese manufacturers: the 14 make up 75% of the $1,300m EC market for matrix printers. The immediate but provisional tariff hits Fujitsu, NEC, Seiko Epson, Brother, Citzen and Seikosha at the top 33.4% rate. Other rates are 22.4% on Japan Business Computer, 18.6% on Copal, 13.6% on Star Micronics, 12.3% on Nakajima, 10.5% on Shinwa Digital Industry, 9.2% on Oki Electric, 7.4% on Alps Electric, 4.8% on TEC.
