EUROPA GROUP BUYS SURREY FAX FIRM

By CBR Staff Writer

The Europa Group has moved into mobile computing and facsimile with acquisition of Surrey based Portable Data and Communications Ltd. Portable, set up by Stuart Mail in June 1987, markets the PDC-25 portable data communications terminal, which integrates the technology of cellular radio telephones with lap-top computers and fax machines. The PDC-25 was conceived and developed by Mail, now Europa Group’s marketing director, to respond to the need for stockbrokers to be able to deal on the move. Europa PDC is developing further facsimile and data interfaces for various cellular telephones, and is expected to launch shortly a fully automatic cellular answering facsimile interface.
