Redhill, Surrey-based Euro-Magnetic Products Ltd which had 1988 turnover of UKP6.5m, has acquired Wabash Inc’s UKP7.6m a year European subsidiary Wabash Datatech International for an undisclosed sum: Peter Mowland, chairman of Euro-Magnetic, has stressed his commitment to the Wabash line of products, which include tapes produced by Euro-Magnetic’s Irish subsidiary, quarter inch data cartridges manufactured by the US company DEI, 3480 cartridges made by Shape Technology in Wales, and a range of floppy disks made by Shape Technology, Wabash Inc, and the German company Doebblin & Beoder; Euro-Magnetics claims that the acquisition will enable it to expand its market to Africa, the Middle East, the Far East, Australia, South America and North America, with the exception of the US, and expects to announce a further acquisition very soon.
