ETA SYSTEMS WINS $7.OM CONTRACT FROM NASA

The St Paul, Minnesota-based ETA Systems Inc, subsidiary of Control Data Corp, has won a $7.0m contract to supply NASA’s Ames Research Center with an Initial computer system for 12 months, the deal covers a $28.0m, 36-month option on a High Speed Processor 2 system for use in the Numerical Simulation Processing Network, plus a $5.2m hardware upgrade option: the Initial system is capable of exceeding 250MFLOPS sustained computation and will have 500Mb of common memory, 25Mb of high-speed mass storage; the HSP-2 system is capable of exceeding 1 GFLOPS with 2Gb of common memory, and 50Gb high speed mass storage.
