I would have died for my own supercomputer 20 years ago, says 37-year-old ETA Systems Inc president Carl Ledbetter, announcing that the Control Data subsidiary is living up to the quirky reputation of its parent – by offering a $1m ETA-10P supercomputer to the high school team in the US that comes up with the best problem to be solved by a supercomputer: the finalists’ problems will be run next summer and the only stipulation is that the winning school mustn’t sell time.
