ESTeem Wireless Modems to launch new spread spectrum modem

With ethernet and serial ports operating in the 902 to 928 MHz frequency band

By CBR Staff Writer

Electronic Systems Technology, dba ESTeem Wireless Modems, is going to debut the 195Ed in Houston, Texas. The 195Ed is an unlicensed spread spectrum modem with ethernet and Serial ports operating in the 902 to 928 MHz frequency band with RF data rates from 1 to 54 Mbps.

With a range of up to 20+ miles, the 195Ed provides users with the speed and bandwidth of IEEE 802.11b/g/a products without the security concerns or co-channel interference from consumer hardware. The 900 MHz spectrum is expected to give range advantages over radios in higher frequency bands within a given environment. 195Ed’s NEMA 4 case for outdoor pole mounting allows users to bridge ethernet point to multi-point computer and/or PLC networks.

The company added that the ‘Self-Healing MESH’ feature permits redundant wireless networks to be deployed over large geographical areas. This feature also builds robust sites by allowing the radios to automatically reroute the communication path if a failure in the primary path occurs.

The ‘Station’ mode allows the 195Ed to function as a Roaming Client under an RF MESH network. Software features include AES Encryption, SNMP and RSTP protocols. Enhanced Network Options include VLAN pass-through and IGMP Snooping.

The company said that 195Ed will give users data bandwidth for SCADA, VoIP, and video needs. The RS-232 serial capability will allow greater flexibility of input devices and applications already served by the ethernet based wireless modems.
