Esselte AB, which laid off 1,500 people last year, is cutting another 900 jobs this year after reporting pre-tax profits for 1990 down 75% at the equivalent of $25m on sales down 3.6% at $2,760m: within that, the company says it swung to a loss of $11m from a profit of $14m last year at its Esselte Office arm, which markets computers, database information and office services; sales rose 9.2% to $430m. cw 9
