The venture partnership will use Espre’s video Codec Lightning Strike compression technology and StreamTraX’s Digital Rights Management (DRM) platform to directly target licensing agreements with motion picture and other entertainment producers to deliver TV and DVD quality video content over broadband connections.
StreamTraX said its DRM System provides a high level of security, financial assurance and a wide customer acceptance model. The company’s protected files are designed to embrace the Napster model and promote sharing and copying rather than prohibiting the exercise.
The better the content, the more likely someone will find a way to copy it, commented Pete Ianace, CEO of Espre. With StreamTraX, Espre can virtually guarantee that the pirate will either not be able to watch the stolen content or, at the very least, will be identifiable as having stolen the content, including where and when the theft occurred.
