German personal computer manufacturer Escom AG’s subsidiary in the Czech Republic is planning to open a further 15 shops in the country this year, bringing the total number of its outlets to 35, officials said at a Dataquest International Computing Conference in Prague on last month. Escom currently produces 2,000 personal computers a month at an assembly line in Brno, in the east of the Czech Republic, where the subsidiary is based. Escom is rumoured to be considering opening a second assembly line to help supply Escom outlets in neighbouring countries both in eastern and western Europe.
