Esat Telecom Group, the Irish telecommunications group, has acquired internet service provider EUnet Ireland, in yet another chipping off of the constituent parts of EUNet International BV’s European internet service provider network. EUnet Ireland employs 27 staff. Esat Telecom will use its fiber optic network, currently under construction, to offer full telecommunications services including internet access, to corporate customers. The network is already live in Dublin City, where broadband LAN interconnect services are being offered for the first time in Ireland. Esat also has a stake in Esat Digifone, Ireland’s second largest GSM mobile phone operator. Terms of the EUnet acquisition were not disclosed.
