L M Ericsson Telefon AB of Sweden, seeking strategic alliances around the world to defray some of the costs of staying in its various capital-hungry markets, already has collaborations under its belt with DEC on banking automation systems and with Siemens on digital cellular standards. Now, reports the Wall Street Journal, Ericsson is discussing with Texas Instruments a collaboration with its Rifa AB semiconductor subsidiary on design and manufacture of chips for Integrated Services Digital Networking; Rifa already has ties with Italy’s SGS.
