The Russian Inter-Regional Transit Telecom company has signed a contract with LM Ericsson Telefon AB on the installation of a cellular mobile communication transit switch worth $1m. The purchase comes as part of the telecommunication company’s $20m, three year plan to install 10 transit mobile switches that will support roaming of about 1m cellular users in Russia. The first switch in Moscow is scheduled for completion this month. After that MTT is going to build switches in the north-west and eventually in the east of the country. MTT was created by 10 leading Russian cellular communication operators to create opportunities for integration of separate networks into a common system.
