ERICSSON WINS $395M MOBILE DEALS IN BRAZIL

L M Telefon Ericsson AB says its Brazilian unit has signed contracts for AMPS mobile telephone systems to a value of $395m. It says the majority of the contracts were signed with companies associated with the Brazilian Telebras. Other parties involved include Companhia Riograndense se Telecomuncacoes SA in Rio Grande de Sul as well as Companhia de Telefones Brasil Central in Uberlandia. Ericsson says its share of the Brazilian cellular market is now 36%, up from 26% in December 1994. Ericsson Telecomunicacoes SA has supplied networks in Brazil for more than 1.2m subscribers and said earlier it had won a Groupe Speciale Mobile phone order from the US company InterCel Inc worth $197.7m.
