L M Ericsson Telefon AB won another mobile phone order in Russia from operator VimpelCom worth $172.8m. Ericsson said the order to expand the D-AMPS/AMPS digital network was the biggest order so far for this system in Russia. The order, which is the seventh increase in the network in the Moscow region, will mean better radio contact for a number of suburbs, Ericsson said. VimpelCom, which sells its services under the mark Bee-Line, is the biggest mobile phone operator in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. The expansion should be done by July 1997 and VimpelCom and BeeLine should then have about 120,000 subscribers.
