L M Ericsson Telefon AB declares from its Richardson, Texas base that it is delighted that the US Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association has decided to continue its policy of fostering new technologies through a defined standardisation process, and will seek to establish a standard for Code Division Multiple Access digital cellular technology as well as Time Division Multiple Access, which is already an accepted industry standard; Ericsson says it has presented its Code Division wideband technologies for future use to the Association-sponsored open fora and is prepared to work with the industry in establishing a standard for the technology, just as it did for Time Division Multiple Access; the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association has asked the Telecommunications Industry Association to begin development of a technical standard for a Code Division Multiple Access technique.
