The Letter of Intent (LoI) includes delivery and implementation of Ericsson’s advanced UMTS core and radio access network equipment.

We see this agreement as a confirmation of Ericsson’s strength in building shared networks, a solution that will have great impact in speeding up the introduction of 3G globally, said Mats Dahlin, head of Ericsson mobile systems, in a statement to the press.

Ericsson was the first to introduce technologies for sharing 3G networks and has the industry’s most comprehensive set of solutions. By sharing networks the operators will reach a good level of geographical coverage from the beginning. They will also lower network costs substantially in the first stages of their 3G-roll out.
