The dark horse, L M Ericsson AB of Sweden AB came in at a canter to win the telecommunications prize of the year, Compagnie Generale des Constructions Telephoniques, CGCT, yesterday. The French government, tired of the lobbying from Washington and Bonn on behalf of AT&T-Philips NV and Siemens AG decided a plague on both your houses and awarded the prize to Ericsson, in partnership with the powerful Matra SA.
