L M Ericsson AB, which saw pre-tax profit for 1987 up 22% to the equivalent of $187m, the highest for three years, looks for the improvement to continue this year: the Information Systems group, most of which has now gone to Nokia Oy and to Norwegian interests, lost $9.8m, down from a loss of $47.8m in 1986, on turnover static at $1,551m; the public telecommunications group saw operating profit up 11% at $219m on turnover up 5.6% at $1,836m; overall turnover rose 2.4% to $5,458m.
