By CBR Staff Writer

L M Ericsson AB has broken the stranglehold held by France on its former colony with a $63m order from Algeria’s Communications Ministry for four AXE exchanges to switch 90,000 local lines: the Swede also agreed to become a 35% shareholder in a new Societe Industrielle de Telecommunications in partnership with the Algerian Enterprise Nationale des Telecommunications to manufacture digital telephone exchanges in Algiers.
