ERICSSON HAS $73M CONTRACT IN THE PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF CHINA

L M Ericsson AB is celebrating a $73m contract in the People’s Republic of China to supply AXE digital switches for 210,000 local and 4,900 long distance lines as well as transmission, power and test equipment: the order, the largest commercial contract between China and Sweden, is also believed to be the most extensive telecommunications agreement ever signed with the People’s Republic of China and reinforces Ericsson’s position as the leading telecommunications supplier to the Guangdong province; the new contract calls for Ericsson to supply Guangzhou and Shenzhen cities and another 10 metropolitan areas in the province with new digital AXE exchange equipment, which is scheduled to be delivered and installed between 1988 and 1990.
